Peace & Unity
Our peacebuilding efforts address both historical conflicts and emerging tensions in the region through comprehensive community engagement programs.
We facilitate dialogue between conflicting parties and provide mediation services to resolve disputes peacefully. Our trained mediators work with communities, local leaders, and institutions to address conflicts before they escalate into violence. We have successfully facilitated the resolution of land disputes, resource conflicts, and inter-community tensions.
WENDA supports the establishment and strengthening of community peace committees at district and sub-county levels. These committees serve as early warning mechanisms and local mediation structures, empowering communities to address conflicts at the grassroots level.
We implement peace education programs in schools and communities, promoting values of tolerance, respect, and peaceful coexistence. Our programs engage youth as peace ambassadors and provide training in conflict resolution skills.
With the large refugee population in West Nile, we work to promote peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities. Our initiatives address resource competition, foster social cohesion, and build mutual understanding between different communities.
