1993

Foundation

WENDA was established as a regional association to coordinate development efforts across West Nile. The organization emerged from earlier formations including MAN (Moyo, Arua, Nebbi) and MDA (Moyo Development Association).

1995-2000

Early Growth

Expansion of membership to include all districts in West Nile. Development of first strategic plan focusing on regional coordination and peacebuilding during post-conflict recovery.

2000-2010

Institutional Strengthening

Establishment of the Secretariat in Arua. Successful facilitation of peaceful leadership transitions in member districts. Launch of major advocacy campaigns for regional infrastructure including roads and health facilities.

2010-2020

Program Expansion

Response to South Sudan refugee crisis. Launch of climate change governance programs. Establishment of partnerships with international organizations including VNG International, ACODE, and Cities Alliance.

2020-Present

Modern Era

Launch of digital coordination platforms. Major PACER-funded climate resilience project. Enhanced focus on refugee-host community integration. Strategic partnerships with Muni University and government agencies.
